Mock draft ?
Top prospects ??
Victor Wembanyama – Center, Metropolitans 92
The Spurs are presumed to take one of the highest coveted prospects in recent league history Thursday.
Victor Wembanyama is ready to take the league by storm. Defensively, he can serve as a rim-protector while capably defending against smaller players on the perimeter. Offensively, the 7-foot-4 phenom can create a wide array of shots from different spots on the court with his superb ball-handling skills.
Scoot Henderson – Guard, G League Ignite
Although unlikely to be the top pick, Scoot Henderson is far from a consolation prize. The 19-year-old averaged a well-rounded 16.5 points, 6.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals over 19 games in his second professional season with the G League Ignite.
Possessing explosive athleticism for a point guard, his 6-foot-2 frame and 6-foot-9 wingspan should translate well into the NBA. Henderson should be an impact player immediately, especially in transition offense early in his career.
Brandon Miller – Forward, Alabama
The highest-rated college prospect of the class, Brandon Miller looks to be the best forward available. After receiving a variety of SEC awards and a consensus second-team All-American selection, the 20-year-old freshman led the Crimson Tide back to the Sweet 16 for the second time in three years.
Miller also averaged 18.8 points while knocking down 38.4% of his shots from deep, making almost three per game. Along with his 3-point accuracy, Miller’s rebounding (8.2) and 6-foot-9 frame should give him immediate value.
Amen Thompson – Guard, Overtime Elite
A sense of mystery and intrigue hangs over Amen Thompson and twin brother Ausar. Either twin could be the first player drafted from the newly established Overtime Elite league, which has questions surrounding its level of competition.
While the twins have similar on-court makeups, what separates Amen from Ausar is his dominant athleticism as the lead guard – he frequently explodes in transition. His playmaking vision is also superb; he averaged 9.2 assists per game in the playoffs.
Jarace Walker – Forward, Houston
Another one-and-done prospect, Houston’s Jarace Walker is a versatile forward who could potentially play small-ball center under the right circumstances. At 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Walker can play physical defense against other bigs while making it tough for wings and guards.
The 19-year-old also thrives in pick-and-roll situations either as a finisher or secondary playmaker, where he can find open shooters or cutters at the rim.
Cam Whitmore – Forward, Villanova
Cam Whitmore has ascended up draft boards. The soon-to-be 19-year-old is a high-upside pick due to his size and athletic traits.
Despite Villanova’s disappointing season, the forward looked like a dominant player. He bullied players to the rim and on the glass, and he flashed a nice jumper from deep.
Ausar Thompson – Guard, Overtime Elite
While his twin brother, Amen, projects as a lead guard, Ausar Thompson is a wing who won OTE MVP. He also led his team in playoff scoring with 21 points per game.
Ausar uses his athleticism on defense, picking up other perimeter players or switching on bigs to force them to make quick decisions. In addition, he shares the same knack for getting good looks at the rim as his brother.
